💭 One Thing We’re Thinking About

We’ve been creating Internet content since, well, since Internet content was a thing.

Were we learning personal branding with our MySpace profiles? Yes we were. Were we training for TikTok with our embarrassing 13-year-old YouTube videos? Indeed.

Us explaining to our families what we do for a living

Along the way, we’ve picked up little nuggets of wisdom that we think all Internet People should know — we spilled 10 of them on the blog this week:

👀 One Thing We’re Obsessed With

Last week, we recommended against getting lost in the fonts and colors as a way to procrastinate on your projects 🌀🎨

But if you doooo wanna get lost in the colors for a little bit… one of our favorite tools to help us think outside the box (erm, canva template) is Coolors.

It can generate entire palettes around the main color you’ve chosen, give you fresh inspo, and helps you make sure you’re getting exactly the vibe you want.

We use this every time we have a brand identity crisis and want to make sure our new blue still works with our current pink.

Proceed with caution! This tool is addicting, don’t let it act as procrastination fuel!

🧪 One Thing We’re Testing

After years of listening to social media gurus emphasizing the importance of short-form content, we were starting to get… tired, to say the least. We’ve felt like Content Factories churning out volume rather than Creative People who have social platforms.

With this in mind, we started our podcast, Overthinking It, and fell madly in love with the art of longform, baby. Coming from the world of 15-second talking head videos, it’s been so refreshing to have space to add important context and give detailed examples in these episodes. And we wanted more of that.

So we both started YouTube channels!

Anna’s on a roll with this newest gem 👇

👉 And MJ’s releasing her first vid this week — subscribe here!

If you want to ready to start making some sh*tty first YouTube videos with the rest of us, this video is super interesting.

It’s an interview between YouTube powerhouse Ali Abdaal (who unrelatably “doesn’t struggle with consistency” and gives Professional YouTuber energy) and Izzy Sealey, who says her YouTube channel falls somewhere in the middle of the Hobby to Business spectrum.

It seems like so many of us dreamt of doing YouTube full-time when we were kids, and are now realizing in adulthood that it’s still a possibility 👀

Anyone else? Reply to this email if you’re a baby YouTuber like us, we can climb Cringe Mountain together ⛰️
